Crisis Intervention Training for Correctional Officers
Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) provides correctional offices with knowledge and hands-on experience for responding to incarcerated individuals with mental health disorders whom they encounter. CIT is an intensive four-day training course to provide correctional officers with the skills to de-escalate crisis situations involving mentally-ill incarcerated individuals.
This trial compares outcomes between incarcerated individuals with mental health disorders who are housed in residential treatment units (RTUs) with only CIT-trained staff and similar incarcerated individuals housed in RTUs without only CIT-trained staff.
